Our Cattle

Unlike other farms, 5 ELS uses no antibiotics, no hormones and no growth implants. Our cattle are raised on grass pastures as it would be in nature. On the 5 ELS farm all cattle live their lives from start to finish in open green pastures, and every calf experiences a natural birth and are never confined. Our cows and calves are never forced to be separated but rather left until a natural occurrence of separation happens. As intended in nature cattle prefer to herd in a group and at 5 ELS we endeavor to never isolate them, modeling an atmosphere that is as similar to their natural habitat as possible.

Beef and Beefalo, the difference you need to know.

Beefalo are primarily cattle in genetics and appearance, with the breed association defining a fullblood beefalo as one with 3 ⁄ 8 (37.5%) bison genetics. The most important asset of the Beefalo is the end product, Lean Red Meat. Beefalo cattle properly finished have an excellent meat that is tender, tasty, and lean. Beefalo produces a carcass that contains less fat and cholesterol than any bovine (beef cattle) breed in the United States.
